Decanter Centrifuge Parts & Service FAQs
Who originally manufactured the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
The rotating assembly (bowl, scroll, scroll drive) was manufactured in Germany by Hiller, GmbH. The centrifuge base, hydraulic power pack, control systems were manufactured by US Filter / Siemens in Holland, MI, which is now owned by Evoqua.
Does Evoqua service the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
No, Evoqua does not sell parts or provide service for any of the centrifuges originally sold by US Filter or Siemens.
Does Langley Separation service the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
Yes, LSP can provide parts and service for any of the centrifuges originally sold by US Filter or Siemens.
Why is Langley Separation qualified to provide parts and service for the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
Tony Langley, President and Owner of Langley Separation and Process, was originally employed by US Filter, Siemens and Hiller. Tony was originally involved in the sale and service of those machines and knows many of the customers. Since Evoqua purchased Siemens and was no longer servicing the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges, Tony felt the experienced team at Langley Separation was best suited to service those customers and keep their machines running.
Can Langley Separation recondition my US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuge?
Yes, completely reconditioning and rebuilding your US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuge decanter equipment is often a more cost-effective alternative to complete replacement and Langley Separation will work within your budget.
Does Langley Separation sell parts for the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
Langley Separation can supply original new OEM replacement parts for all US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuges and ancillary equipment including bearings, seals, gaskets, and many other consumable wear parts such as feed nozzles and discharge bushings.
Can Langley Separation repair US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges parts?
Langley Separation can also recondition and repair many worn and / or damaged parts restoring them back to OEM specifications. And if parts have become unavailable or obsolete, we will reverse engineer and manufacture new replacements.
Does Langley Separation provide field service for the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges?
Yes, Langley Separation has an experienced team with access to all the necessary OEM information to properly trouble shoot and provide field services for all model US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuges.
Can Langley Separation re-tip and service the US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax scrolls?
Yes, Langley Separation provides complete centrifuge rotating assembly, rebuild, repair, refurbishing and complete reconditioning services for the US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuges. This includes Scroll / conveyor inspection including feed zone and flighting repair as well as re-hard surfacing and re-tipping with flame sprayed wear protection and / or replacement of sintered tungsten feed port inserts and carbide scroll tiles plus re-balancing scroll / conveyor.
What types of wear protection systems were offered?
The standard wear protection system was sintered tungsten carbide (STC). This consists of STC tiles (scroll conveyor), and solid STC feed and discharge nozzles are. A lower cost flame sprayed system is offered was an alternative.
How is the centrifuge scroll conveyor removed for service?
The rotating assembly is first removed from the base. The rotating assembly is designed for simplified removal from the base, making the process of scroll removal and exchange a simple procedure. After the rotating assembly is removed, the headwall of the bowl is removed, and the scroll is then pulled out horizontally. This method has the advantage of removing the scroll in a clean workplace with good access for inspection and repair of all components in the rotating assembly.
Can Langley Separation provide process optimization?
Yes, Langley Separation has a team with years of knowledge and hands-on experience that can assist with process troubleshooting and optimization.
Does Langley Separation provide electrical and control panel programming service?
Yes, Langley Separation can provide experienced electrical troubleshooting and control panel services for US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuges. Langley Separation maintains the control system passwords and has access to the programs for most of the machines presently installed.
Can Langley Separation upgrade our process automation and centrifuge control panel?
Yes, Langley Separation can provide process control solutions and upgrades to increase centrifuge and system performance with state-of-the-art electronic controls, hydraulic drives and AC variable speed drive systems. Whether it’s a panel for a new machine or upgrade of an older machine, all aspects of automation and process controls are managed from design, engineering and construction through installation, integration and start-up.
What level of automation was typically supplied or available?
Most systems were totally automated to minimize operator requirement. The feed pump, polymer system and dewatered solids conveyor were usually integrated into the control system. Standard controls were Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC with 10″ color touchscreen display.
What type of control system was used on the main drive?
A VFD was used as standard on all CentraMax centrifuges, which provides smoother starts and reduced power consumption.
Does Langley Separation offer maintenance contracts?
Yes, Langley Separation offers annual field service contracts with our authorized service technicians as a convenience to all the US Filter J-Spin, Siemens CentraMax, Siemens CentraPac and Hiller DR decanter centrifuge customers.
What type of scroll drive (back-drive) system were used on the CentraMax centrifuges?
Both hydraulic and electromechanical systems were offered. The hydraulic system consists of a hydraulic motor directly coupled to the scroll conveyor with a separate, external hydraulic power pack. The electromechanical system consists of an electric motor with VFD coupled to a mechanical gearbox to drive the scroll.
Why were both scroll drive systems offered?
The hydraulic system may obtain higher performance (higher cake solids) on many applications. The electromechanical system is offered for applications where hydraulic systems are not permitted.
What is the L-10 life for the main bearings?
100,000 hours without correction factors?
What size of US Filter J-Spin and Siemens CentraMax centrifuges were available?
260mm (10″) through 760 mm diameter bowls. Flow ranges of 25 to 550-gpm.
What were the standard materials of construction?
316 or duplex stainless-steel wetted parts. Bases were carbon steel with corrosion resistant paint. Control enclosures were NEMA 4X.
